Historic Bull Ring markets to reopen

Birmingham’s Bull Ring markets will be welcoming back customers when the Open, Rag and Indoor Markets reopen from 16 June 2020.

Shoppers looking for a bargain – be it fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, meat or haberdashery – will be able to visit the city’s landmark markets from Tuesday 16 June.

Birmingham City Council has worked with traders to ensure social distancing measures are in place, including floor markings and signage reminding people to maintain two metres distance from others while queuing and shopping.

All three markets will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The Indoor Market is open every day except Sunday and the Open Market also trades on Wednesdays. Full details can be found on the council’s website: www.birmingham.gov.uk

Market traders have completed risk assessments to demonstrate how they will ensure staff working on stalls are protected and to ensure their processes protect customers.

From 16 June, the Open, Indoor and Rag Markets will operate a controlled entry system,  to enable people to keep their distance while inside the market.

Separate entrances and exits will also be used for Indoor and Rag Markets, to help with social distancing.
