BID Levy Update
Posted on: 19/10/20
Throughout 2020 the 12 BIDs in Birmingham have continued to offer a support service to businesses within their individual areas.
The full team of Retail BID Patrol Officers have remained on duty, protecting and supporting essential businesses that remained open during lockdown as well as checking all shop premises daily. In addition, working with the local authority, the BID ensured all members had prompt payment of government grants available.
Retail BID invested in summer planting and continues to ensure the city centre remains clean and safe.
A decision was taken at the start of lockdown by all BIDs across the city and Birmingham City Council that no enforcement action would be taken during this period to collect outstanding BID levy payments – which are crucial for BID services to operate.
However, the local authority now needs to collect outstanding payments for BIDs to be able to continue to offer support to businesses and will soon be issuing a reminder letter to businesses that still have outstanding accounts.
