Independent businesses are key to the success of a city centre and add vibrancy to the environment, Birmingham is very fortunate to have over 140 independent retailers in the city centre.
The BID offers support to this sector through marketing campaigns alongside assistance with Business Rates Relief and liaising with utility and highways works affecting the trading environment.
The BID is working on a specially-produced map and trail to help visitors discover and enjoy independent businesses, which will be issued in Summer 2017. A special working group has been established to help shape the exciting campaign.
The Found guide was produced in 2016 which features over 100 independent businesses including restaurants, cafés, bars and hairdressers, captured through beautiful illustrations and stunning photography by local artists and creatives.
Alongside unique artwork, inspired by the individuality of Birmingham’s retailers, the guide includes details of each store and a map.
Produced by Retail Birmingham and supported by Independent Birmingham, visitors could pick up a copy of Found in one of the 140 independent stores in the city centre or download the guide from www.shoppinginbirmingham.com.
The campaign included outdoor advertising, on street flags, floor graphics within the arcades, magazine/online adverts and a radio campaign with Free Radio promoting the independent sector.
