Road closures for Commonwealth Games Homecoming Celebrations

Birmingham is set to host a spectacular open-air homecoming party for the arrival of Team England from the 2018 Commonwealth Games this weekend.

On Saturday 21st April, Victoria Square will be transformed into a big party complete with live music performances, dance acts and sport taster sessions which will extend along New Street. For more information about the event itself, click here

In order to allow this event to take place in a safe and secure environment, there will be some road restrictions and closures in place by the Safety Advisory Group. This will include a closure of Colmore Row from Newhall Street to Victoria Square and Waterloo Street to Bennetts Hill Junction. There will also be a managed road access restriction of Temple Street to New Street and Bennetts Hill.

They also ask that deliveries are made before 10am or after 6pm on Saturday 21st April.

There will be activities taking place along New Street so it may be advised from City Centre Management team that street cafes with street furniture may need to move them.

If you require any assistance over the weekend, you can reach the Safety Manager Steve McCalmont on 07971855469 who will be able to assist you.
