Midland Metro Extension latest: Paradise Circus Closure

The next phase of the Birmingham Westside Metro Extension is set to start this autumn.

The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, 3rd September 2018 until Summer 2019. On this date, Paradise Circus will be closed in both directions to vehicles. The A38 Queensway underpass, which runs beneath Paradise Circus, will remain open in both directions for the duration of the works.

All affected roads will have clear diversion signs to guide you to your desired destination. See map below on the expected road closures.

There will be traffic marshals in place 24/7 to assist with access to Holliday Street from Suffolk Street Queensway to allow access for deliveries. If you need any more assistance on deliveries, you can contact Amy Walker, Midland Metro Alliance Stakeholder Liaison Officer at communications@metroalliance.co.uk

This extension forms part of an ambitious plan by the West Midlands Combined Authority to regenerate the region and provide new opportunities for residents and businesses, this includes expanding the metro network which will triple in size by 2026.

The Birmingham Westside Metro Extension is being carried out by Midland Metro Alliance on behalf of WMCA and Transport for West Midlands. This will see the existing line at Grand Central extended to Hagley Road.
