Countdown to Simplyhealth Great Birmingham 10K run is under way

The countdown to one of the biggest days in the Midlands’ activity calendar is under way after organisers revealed the closing dates to enter this year’s Simplyhealth Great Birmingham 10K, which takes place on Sunday, May 6, during Bank Holiday weekend.

More than 7,000 people of all running and walking abilities have signed up to take part in the music-loving 10K, which features start waves tuned to the sounds of the 80s, 90s, Noughties – which has almost reached capacity – and today’s tracks.

With a limited number of places still available, organisers The Great Run Company have confirmed the last date and time to enter the 10K to have running numbers delivered by post is 10am on Thursday, April 26th.

The last date and time to enter online and collect your running pack in person is 4pm on Friday, May 4th.

The Simplyheath Great Birmingham 10K Customer Services desk will open at the Up and Running store on Colmore Row in the city centre between 10am-4pm on Saturday, May 5th, from where participants can collect running packs.

Growing in popularity at the 10K is the Walking Wave, which last year attracted hundreds of participants taking on their first organised event, a charity challenge or fitness goal.

Last year’s Great Birmingham 10K raised over £1.4 million for local and national good causes.

The event starts in the city centre before passing the iconic Selfridges building, Cannon Hill Park and Edgbaston Stadium.

There will be a number of road closures in place on the day, some closing from 4am at the earliest to re-opening at 4:30pm at the latest. See the full road closures and re-opening times below.
